Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu to participate in Pre-COP28

Singapore, 29 October 2023 – Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Ms Grace Fu, will participate in the Preparatory Meeting of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Pre-COP28) in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 30 to 31 October 2023.

2 Minister Fu’s participation in Pre-COP28 is at the invitation of UAE COP28 President-designate, Dr Sultan Al-Jaber. Minister Fu, together with Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Espen Barth Eide, will be co-facilitating the on-going ministerial consultations on climate mitigation, which will seek to identify the decisions that need to be taken at COP28 to strengthen global climate action. At this last preparatory ministerial meeting before COP28, participating Ministers will seek to set the course for a successful COP28.

3 Minister Fu will also meet bilaterally with counterparts from the other participating COP members to discuss bilateral cooperation and international developments concerning climate change and environmental protection.

4 Minister Fu will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, and the National Climate Change Secretariat.
